What would a doctor you need detoxification (drugs)? It would lose his license to practice again? It seems that if a doctor is looking for ways to help or were afraid to ask for help because of the potential impact. Anyone who knows anything about this?

Check with your licensing board of the state. Most states have an option for professionals in the disability or have on their website, so you go in the right direction.
The fact that the physician has an addiction does not mean that he / she will lose their license.
